About Kahnawake
Kahnawake is a Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) territory on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, directly across from Montreal and connected to the city by the Mercier Bridge. It has around 8,000 on-territory members. The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke enacted the Cannabis Control Law and its accompanying Dispensary Regulation in 2023, with a framework that caps licensed retailers at three dispensaries, though additional unlicensed shops also operate.
